Welcome to The Simple Life

About

Nestled in the heart of Concordia, Missouri, The Simple Life is a historical church building built in 1878.  Through the years, several additions were made to enlarge the structure and the congregation continued to meet here through the 1970's.

It was then purchased by the Stevenson's and used as an auction house. Shortly after, Rex and Margaret Johnson acquired the building for their antique shop called Gazebo Antiques

The Simple Life had its early beginnings when a small coffee shop and antique store were added during a complete renovation of the building in 2009. Hard wood floors were preserved along with the original tin ceiling and ornate trim. An addition on the south side of the building was detached and turned into a work space. Several other projects were completed as the coffee shop was expanded to include a restaurant area with more dining spaces, a larger kitchen, and an outdoor patio area.

This quaint little shop with memories of yesteryears features antique vendors with unique items for everyone.  Their restaurant menu features homemade breakfast pastries, specialty cheesecake and cake of the week, daily homemade soup specials, lunch sandwiches and salads, in addition to their many popular specialty coffees.  The Simple Life is a great meeting place for small groups and draws visitors from all over the nation.  The friendly staff is ready to serve you.

In the fall of 2021, the work space was revamped into what is now The Simple Marketa small store with all Missouri-made products including cheeses, meats, jams, jellies, and much more, including local artist merchandise.

After the The Simple Market was completed and opened for business, construction began on The Simple Suites.  Each of the two suites includes a master bedroom & full bath, a loft with a full bath and sleeping room for four, a full kitchen, dining and living area with a large stone fireplace, and a laundry area.  These beautiful suites are available to rent by the day, week, or month.

What project will we start next?
